Steve Gaskins is one of Minnesota’s premier trial lawyers. With nearly 40 years of major trial experience, he has successfully resolved through trial or settlement hundreds of cases throughout the United States.

Known for his intense preparation and effective courtroom demeanor, Mr. Gaskins’ trial skills were forged early in his career in New York City as a prosecutor in legendary District Attorney Robert M. Morganthau’s office in the tough and contentious rackets bureau and as a litigator at a top, large law firm. Persuaded to come to Minnesota in 1983, Mr. Gaskins joined Faegre & Benson where he managed a significant civil trial practice—generally the defense of major corporations and local business people in various cases around the country. In 1989, Mr. Gaskins and others left Faegre & Benson to form what would become Gaskins Bennett Birrell Schupp LLP.  Mr. Gaskins now handles select lawsuits offering his clients a full range of services, usually in high stakes cases. Perhaps most recently best known for his successful defense of a corporate CEO in a backdating matter, Steve has represented individuals and major corporations for years in their most difficult and important cases.

Mr. Gaskins is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and chaired the College’s Minnesota State Committee; he is active in the legal community and lectures on various legal topics. He is the senior member of the Gaskins Bennett Birrell Schupp LLP Management Committee.
