First and foremost, Ryan is a problem solver. He uses his trial and litigation skills to resolve complicated disputes to his clients’ satisfaction, whether on the plaintiff- or defense-side of a case. Ryan practices extensively in the areas of civil rights, personal injury, product liability, and commercial litigation. He has handled a large number of police misconduct and jail misconduct cases. He has also handled a wide variety of personal injury cases, including motor vehicle crash and aviation cases. On aviation cases, he has defended FBOs and mechanics as well as represented passengers. He has handled significant commercial disputes, ranging in topics from disagreements over contracts to significant property damage cases involving product liability or premises liability. He spends much of his time in federal court in Minnesota but has represented his clients’ interests in several state and federal courts across the country.
Ryan joined the firm in October 2002 after clerking for a year for the Honorable Thomas J. Kalitowski at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Since that time, he has worked in each of the firm’s different practice areas. This breadth of experience has helped Ryan develop an ability to handle varied and complex cases without regard to a particular niche.
Ryan taught legal writing at the University of Minnesota Law School and prides himself on his ability to convey his clients’ needs to the opposing party and the court in a persuasive manner.
